How to move around in Lausanne

Lousanne is not a big town, therefore it is very easy to move around by car or better, on foot. We recommend buying a good map: the ups and downs of the streets may cause a bit of confusion.

Public transport – bus, filobus and metro - the company Transports publics de la région Lausannoise (TL, www.t-l.ch) administers the daily and night transport service.

The city is provided with a small underground line, , inaugurated in the early ‘90s. The second line is the world’s smallest automatic underground line. It is called M2 and with its 5 km length it connects the embankments of the ferries in Ouchy with the village of Croisette, passing by the train station and the Old Town. From Ouchy depart the tourist ferries which make excursions on the Lake of Geneva.

As for Line M1, it connects the west train station in Renens with the city centre of Lousanne, terminating in the east of the city by the suburban train station Lausanne-Flon.

There are different kinds of tickets: from 30 minutes tickets to daily tickets.
If you prefer taxis rather than the public transports, be aware that fares are pretty expensive. The numbers to contact are: Taxiphone: 0844 810 810; Taxi Services Sàrl: 0844 814 814
