Gently nestled on the northern shore of Lake Leman (also known as the lake of Geneva) is the lovely town of Lausanne, the “pearl of the lake”, and the capital of the Canton Vaud in French Switzerland.
Lausanne is an exclusive tourist destination and a lively cultural city, forever loved by historic and contemporary characters.
Let’s discover this elegant and interesting city.
A perfect starting point for a visit of the city is the Old Town, the heart of Lausanne. The beautiful square Place de la Palud, is ideal for a relaxing promenade on its cobbled stone perimeter, dominated by the historic building of the Hotel de la Ville.
Another nice place, especially loved by the young people is Place de la Riponne, with the Renaissance building of Rumine. Nearby stands the Montebon Park, a former Casino, now converted into the seat of the Cinémathèque Suisse. Not far away stands the Flon district, with the bizarre Bel-Air tower ( Switzerland’s first skyscraper).
